Gold rush In a separate project, Agru has supplied more than 1 million sq m of HDPE geomembranes for a groundwater protection project in Kazakhstan. Dump leaching is often used in mining to extract
gold. The ore extracted in the open pit is piled onto geomembranes and sprinkled with cyanide solution. The gold then dissolves as a cyanide complex. The gold-enriched solution is collected in tanks and the gold is separated. Agru’s HDPE geomembranes were used to
protect the groundwater from contamination. The application places high demands on the resistance of the material, as the geomembrane is
