Nelipak, founded in 1953 in the Netherlands, is a US-headquartered producer of healthcare packaging including rigid and flexible sterile-barrier packaging for medical device, diagnostic, pharmaceutical drug delivery. The company specialises in thermoforming but also offers in-house design, prototyping, tooling, simulation and other service, plus a line of tray sealing equipment
Product lines:
The company’s three main product lines are rigid and flexible packaging, plus medical tray sealing. Its rigid packaging includes medical trays and blisters, die cut inserts (for pouched medical device components) and performance packaging – which is made in cleanrooms. Flexible packaging options include laminated roll stock (with high barrier), pouches, bags for a variety of applications and die-cut lids. In addition, its range of sealing machines are designed for use in Class 7 cleanrooms.
Factory locations:
The company has 14 manufacturing facilities in the Americas (eight sites), Europe (five sites) and Asia (one site). It recently acquired Merrill’s Packaging and its two thermoforming sites in the US and Costa Rica. Previous to this, it broke ground on a separate facility in Costa Rica in 2025, which is due to open this year. Back in 2024, it opened its first US-based flexible packaging production site in North Carolina.
