Roy Products, founded in 1949, began life as a producer of plastic bassinets for babies. However, it soon diversified into other products, especially custom enclosures for the early computer industry. It bought its first thermoforming machine in 1952. Since then, it has specialised in thermoformed products for industries such as medical, transport, energy and electric vehicles, as well as large parts for areas such as agriculture and heavy equipment.
Product lines:
The company specialises in producing custom thermoformed parts for a variety of industries. At one end of the scale, it can produce large vacuum-formed parts – up to 10 x 18ft in size – for applications such as entire lids for roll-off containers, stormwater retention chambers and covers for alternative fuel fleet vehicles. It also produces a variety of smaller parts, such as enclosures for equipment such as medical devices, solar racking and automotive products such as trunk trays.
Factory location:
The company has a single 48,000 sq ft production facility in Ontario that makes its entire range of products. The ISO 9001:2015 certified facility uses a range of advanced equipment, including fully robotic six axis trimming and 3D scanning measurement systems. It also has the capacity for mould making, painting, finishing and assembly. The company recently used Sekisui Kydex sheet to develop a housing for an EV charging station – using thermoforming rather than injection moulding, structural foam and sheet metal processing.
