Teraplast sees sales increase in 2024

TeraPlast of Romania reported a rise in sales – but flat profits – in 2024. The company, which produces a

variety of products including flexible packaging, saw a 34% rise in sales for the year, reaching nearly RON900 million (US$196m). At the same time, profitability

(EBITDA) remained static at around RON51m (US$11m). The company said this refected its strategy to increase market share, plus the impact of price pressures and contraction in some European markets. Turnover in its flexible packaging business more than doubled, up 143% to around RON113m (US$25m), while EBITDA fell – with the division posting a loss of around RON14m (US$3m). This was mainly due to the

ramp-up of the company’s new Opal stretch film plant and losses from its TeraBio Pack business. “Our evolution in 2024 reflects the

mix of organic growth and growth through acquisitions, over the fluctuations in European markets,” said Bogdan Crăciunaș, chief financial officer of TeraPlast. The company also increased sales volume by 46% – with nearly 110,000 tonnes. In 2025, it expects to grow volumes

by a further 12%, sales by a similar amount and profits by nearly 70%. “Starting in the second half of

2025, we expect the synergies generated by new subsidiaries to produce visible effects,” said Crăciunaș. www.teraplast.ro
