Movacolor says its new MDS volumetric feeder helps to increase operator efficiency
It comes with an efficient stepper motor, a rigid dosing house, a stainless-steel hopper and a robust neckpiece. Optimal blend homogeneity is accom- plished through inline dosing using a centralised insert within the neckpiece. All the dosing tools from Movacolor’s MDS Balance range will be available for the new model, providing customers with the flexibility to choose the most suitable dosing tool for each process. It allows a fast 60-second cleaning and
material change through a discharge valve and easy motor, hopper and dosing tool release. As a result, downtime and change- over time can be minimised. It also includes a new 4.3in VoluTouch
controller. This capacitive touchscreen controller can manage up to two units and is equipped with intuitive functionalities such as easy recipe man- agement. A wireless web interface allows for data and recipe transfer. The MDS Volumetric Feeder is part of Mova-
color’s modular dosing concept and can be combined with other units or specifically tailored to fit a specific production process.
Specialist supplier US-based Entek displayed a number of materials handling systems at NPE – following its 2022 acquisition of Adaptive Engineering and Fabrica- tion (AEF), a specialist manufacturer of materials handling equipment. Rick Buschini, VP of material handling sales at
Entek, said the main focus following the acquisition was efficiency and cost programmes. AEF had already been a long-term partner of Entek. At NPE, materials handling systems on show included a vacuum loader and filter receiver designed for difficult to handle materials – mainly focused on powders. The systems can be sized from 100 to over 40,000 lbs/hr depending on the customer’s need. One of the key components of the system is a long-lasting filter that is easy to change, increasing productivity and reducing downtime, said the company.

tween gravimetric dosing and mixing, it says. This new unit caters to the needs of plastics processors looking for a standardised solution for their dosing and mixing requirements.

vertical slide valves for main components; and screw feeders for precise additive dosing. This ensures high accuracy and flexibility. The bowl- shaped mixing chamber, with optimised agitator, guarantees homogeneous mixing in a dead-spot- free zone, monitored by the SBlend microproces- sor control system. This allows for reducing additive quantities to the lower tolerance limit, ensuring cost savings. The SBlend G unit supports gain-in-weight dosing and mixing for up to four materials, avail- able in three sizes for throughput rates of 50, 130, and 300 kg/hr. The standard configuration includes two vertical slides, controlled by pneumatic cylinders, for precise dosing of main components such as virgin material or regrind. For finer dosing and greater accuracy, optional screw dosing modules can be added. These prevent material trickle and avoid overdosing expensive additives. They are available in various sizes and can be removed and exchanged without the need for tools, offering flexible configuration to meet specific application requirements, according to the company.
