Belgian profile extruder Deceuninck says profits climbe again last year despite lower sales. Full-year sales fell more than 11% to €866 million ($US946m), due partly to lower volumes and exchange rates. Profitability, in the form of adjusted


EBITDA, grew more than 5% to reach nearly €118m (US$129m). At the same time, net profit rose by 79% to nearly €14m (US$15m). Sales in Europe – which accounts for


nearly half the company’s turnover – fell by nearly 11% to €410m (US$448m). The decline in North

America was steeper at nearly 26%, to €167m (US$182m), while sales in Turkey and emerging markets was flat at around €289m (US$316m). Overall sales volumes fell by around 4% across all regions. The company says the market will


remain “challenging” in 2024. In Europe, it expects slow order intake and continuing high interest rates. In North America, market demand is soft, though order intake in Turkey is “solid” – which is expected to continue for the first half of the year. “Market conditions in Europe and
