EXHIBITION PREVIEW | NPE 2024

expand masterbatch production at its site in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The new facility will raise capacity by 25% – bringing annual capacity at the site to 500 million lbs/yr. The company will discuss the new produc- tion capabilities at NPE 2024. The first phase in the four-phase expansion came online in June 2023. Construction on the second phase is now underway and slated for start-up in 2026 according to Marton Kozma, president of Modern Dispersions. “The first phase of new capacity gives us more

flexibility, reduced lead times, and allows us to remain cost-competitive,” said Kozma. The new capacity, for the North American

MiVue will show new, expanded capabilities for its plant monitoring software for plastics processors at NPE. The software offers connectivity with a broad

range of ancillary equipment, including loss in weight lenders, conveyors, granulators and chillers. Recently added features and modules will also be shown, including: job report module for lot tracking and quality accountability; material usage module to track manufacturing material assets and cost; and preventative maintenance module to ensure proper maintenance schedules are followed unique for each machine type.

Digital manufacturing connection kits give plastics plant managers more insight into their equipment by providing robust production data, including material usage. Data-driven understand- ing of processes improves plastic processors’ uptime, reduces costs and improves service and maintenance operations, it says. The company’s cellular router connects mould- ing and extrusion machines with ancillary equip- ment through secure, encrypted data transmission. Featuring powerful analytics and cloud-based data storage, its software can be used on any web-ena- bled device. Users receive text and email alerts to keep processes running smoothly. MiVue says its software can deliver several benefits to processors, including: improved uptime, thanks to alerts that highlight problems; and reduced operational costs through better process insights. Connection kits can be installed with new equipment, retrofitted to older equipment or incorporated into custom system integration projects. ❯ www.mivue.com

market, is in response to strong growth in injection moulding and extrusion applications in markets including automotive, electronics packaging and construction. Key end-use applications include pipe, and wire and cable. The “multimillion-dollar investment” includes compounding and ancillary equipment, plus infrastructure support. The project also features transport improvements, including a new rail storage and switch yard to accommodate 200 rail cars. The new plant will employ 15-20 workers in production and support positions. The second phase will be similar in design and capacity of the first phase. The timetable for the final two phases of the expansion have not yet been established. ❯ www.moderndispersions.com

Pixargus of Germany will show four inline inspec- tion systems for pipes and profiles at NPE. Its AllRounDia DualVision (DV) and ProfilControl

7 S CorrugatedTube are used to inspect pipes, while iProfilControl (iPC) and ProfilControl 7 DX WPC check the quality of profiles. AllRounDia DV checks the surface and diameter

of tubes and hoses with a single sensor. It uses ‘true’ LED lighting instead of laser light – as found in conventional systems. A new lighting concept ensures that the field of vision and measuring field are always perfectly lit. In this way, features such as cracks, inclusions and raised spots can be reliably detected. The inline system inspects matte, glossy and even black surfaces of round products, as well as the surfaces of translucent and semi-transparent tubing. It is currently available for round products of up to 40mm diameter, with systems in develop- ment for diameter ranges up to 63mm and 110mm. It will also show a ProfilControl 7 S for surface inspection of corrugated tubes – which it says was “the most difficult terrain for quality inspection”.
