New US-UK additives merger
Metals and Additives (MAC), based in the US, has merged with UK-based William Blythe to create an international specialty chemicals group with a product portfolio that includes additives. MAC founders Gregg
Bennett and Mark Mc- Caughey will remain as shareholders and continue in their leadership roles while working alongside the William Blythe man- agement team. The new entity is a
producer of flame retard- ants, smoke suppressants, catalysts, absorbents, foam technologies, polymer additives, and other high-performance inorgan- ic chemical solutions. It will benefit from a complemen- tary product portfolio and extended customer reach. MAC said the merger brings together two highly regarded businesses with deep technical expertise and strong manufacturing capabilities. �

Milliken dedicates new PP clarifier production

Sumika plans auto PP recycling
Sumika Polymer Com- pounds Europe said it will produce a range of recycled polypropylenes at a new recycling unit in France to meet the needs of the automotive sector in response to the EU’s
regulation on end-of-life vehicles. The company is investing €13m in the plant in Saint- Martin-de-Crau which will have production capacity of more than 10,000 tonnes/yr of recycled PP. Its feedstock
will come from the automo- tive industry.
Added to another plant
in Turkey, Sumika will have annual capacity of more than 25,000 tonnes of recycled PP. �
