MATERIALS | HIGH TEMPERATURE

Envalior, said: “A key success factor in this project was achieving excellent flow behaviour in thin-wall designs and a UL94 V-0 rating at 0.4 mm thickness – while simultaneously achieving an outstanding green share from bio-waste sources but at prime quality.”

High-impact PAs Xenia Materials has developed a new family of impact-modified materials based on PA11 and PA12. The Xelamid range was presented at JEC World 2026, expanding Xenia’s portfolio beyond fibre- reinforced compounds. Xelamid comprises unfilled, impact-modified grades offering a balance of stiffness, impact resistance and energy absorption. The portfolio covers a range of performance

levels across key parameters, with different com- pounds reaching up to 30% higher elongation at break or up to 10 times greater impact resistance compared to standard polyamides. Some formula- tions also reach a flexural modulus of up to 600MPa and a tensile modulus of up to 700MPa, for a combination of rigidity and structural stability for demanding applications. “Compared to elastomer-modified materials

based on short-chain polyamides such as PA6, Xelamid is developed on PA11 and PA12 – long- chain polyamides that ensure low moisture absorp- tion, reduced density and high impact resistance,” said Alfio Agostini, key account manager at Xenia. Thanks to its combination of high mechanical

properties, lightness and design flexibility, Xelamid is suited to applications in sports equipment, consumer goods and industrial sectors. The modular nature of the portfolio provides options for a variety of applications, enabling designers and manufacturers to select grades tailored to specific functional and processing requirements.
