terestingly, I learnt that quite a few mills in the valley hung on to the technologies that once had helped them flour- ish. Even when newer technologies had helped others to be more productive than the old ones had ever been, most of these mills continued to do what they had always done. Until the last of them was finally converted into the museum. Now don’t we all have that to a certain extent? Wanting to protect what we’ve always been doing, hesitant or even reluc- tant to embark on novel techniques? After all, who on earth tells us we are going to be as successful with the new methods as we have always been with the old? And aren’t we not too old to learn these modern things?
