“The way that pharma and healthcare companies have responded to the pandemic has been phenomenal.”

Sanofi, headquartered in Paris, is collaborating with GSK and Translate Bio to develop two different COVID Vaccines.

To serve these growing and evolving needs, we have set four supply chain priorities:

- Re-invent ourselves to become even more patient and cus- tomer-centric. We can learn a lot from FMCG where “Con- sumer is the boss” has been the mantra for many years. - Deliver tailored solutions to efficiently serve the differing and evolving needs of our patients and customers. We want to adapt to serve patients as they want to be served. For example, to deliver their insulins to their home or have a clinician arrive at their home to give an infusion.

- Drive a digital transformation to give us real-time end-to-end visibility and integration all the way from patients through cus- tomers and back through our supply chains all the way back to our suppliers. We are moving from hindsight to data-driven foresight and action. We no longer want to have to explain what happened yesterday or last week but instead take proactive action to be in a better position to serve patients and customers looking ahead. - Create a culture in which everyone feels engaged with the company purpose, feels empowered to make a difference and is enabled via digital tools and work processes to bring life- enhancing solutions to patients. We have established a strong foundation upon which we are building for the future.

One of our challenges is to collapse the time-frame from product idea to having it with the patient, so that it doesn’t take ten years.”

Which supply chain challenges keep you awake at night? “I am privileged to work with great professionals so generally I sleep well at night. That said, in the current pandemic context, it’s how do I ensure that all our people are safe and are truly enabled to the best of their abilities to serve our patients and customers?

Some of the other key questions we are working on are: How do we sustain the sense of purpose, passion and the sheer pace that we have been able to deliver over the last ten months as we move ahead ?

How do we sustain this as we adapt to whatever will be the new norm?

How can we be more inclusive, more agile, to be able to adapt to how people want to work?

How do we get people to fully embrace and leverage the digital tools and capabilities becoming available ? We need to enable people to use these tools to their full functionality so we can free-up their time to focus on what’s really important, serving the patient and the customer.”

How do you ensure that your colleagues/employees are engaged and not fatigued by online meetings? “As it happens, today, my team and I are holding a global town- hall for all our Supply Chain colleagues and this is a key topic. Firstly, we are taking the opportunity to review the contribution they have made to Patients in 2020. They have single mindedly
