Turning Data into Decisions in AgriFood

22 November SCI, London, UK

Harnessing the power of Big Data to gener- ate new insights, practices and products is one of the key priorities of today’s AgriFood supply chain. Numerous sensors and connected

devices are deployed to help AgriFood com- panies collect data related to production, processing, and distribution. Data can help farmers optimise inputs and adjust crops and land management regimes. It can also help suppliers of crop protection products to produce more accu- rate recommendations or gather evidence on their efficacy with more precision reduc- ing their use and environmental impact. Data can also be used to analyse shop- ping habits of millions of consumers and help suppliers develop effective marketing strategies based on purchasing patterns and demographic breakdowns. There are a number of challenges in using data in the AgriFood sector. From data availability, to data exchange and interoperability between different data sets. Standardisation of data acquisition and analysis will help to integrate different data sets and create more value. Turning data into decisions is the key for harness- ing the power of data. The event will focus on key needs of

the AgriFood sector, discuss the existing barriers and present potential solutions and joint initiatives. It will be of interest to AgriFood companies, machinery and equipment manufacturers, companies developing and using sensors, ICT compa- nies, software developers, data analytics companies, farm and agronomy advisers, producer organisations, retailers, input manufacturers and distributers (seeds, crop protection), academic organisations working on data acquisition, analysis and software development, regulators and government departments.
