How do you get buy-in from administration on technology needs? “Administration buy in requires communicating what the technology can do to make processes easier or safer.

The technology must be simple to use. It must be accessible, functioning properly, and a training plan must be in place. After all of this, there must be a commitment to maintain the technology and an expectation to use it. With my partners at First Student, I have gained buy in around an electronic communication system called

FirstActs. This system is for drivers to report behavior incidents to principals and for bus monitors and driv- ers to collaborate with teachers around the needs of Special Education students. It is a two-way electronic communication system that allows for quick collaboration and detailed records. We also have turn-by-turn navigation on the bus, a parent tracking app, and other technology tools. Each

tool was rolled out strategically and required administration buy-in.” Technology used:

• Communications Systems • GPS/GIS/Vehicle Tracking • Student Tracking/RFID/Parent Communication Apps
