Heartbreak

Illegal Passing Tragedies Continue In early September, a Texas school bus driver committed suicide following an illegal passing incident. The bus driver was cited for not activating the warning lights and extending the stop-arm, resulting in a middle school student being hit and injured. The district fired him, and he responded by taking his own life. Meanwhile, on Sept. 9, a 7-year-old Kansas student was struck and killed by an illegal passing vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl. The state is one of several that allows teens under 16 to obtain provi- sional licenses that allow them to drive to school and work. Visit stnonline.com/tag/illegal-passing to read more on these incidents and to learn ways they could potentially be prevented.
