Heartbreak A four-decade veteran of the school transportation industry and a founder of the NAPT Foundation, Rewel A. Bynum— known simply as “Buster” by many of his contemporaries—died on Nov. 16. He was 92. Read more about Buster’s contribution to the industry at

Apply for (School Bus) Wi-Fi The Federal Communication Commission released the 2024 Eligible Services List for E-Rate funding in December, and school bus Wi-Fi equipment, software and data services are included. The FCC for the first time approved school bus Wi-Fi under E-Rate in October. Read more at

Another Hall of Famer, former Durham School Services President and CEO John Elliott, died suddenly on Dec. 2. He was 81. Elliott was inducted by the National School Transportation Association in 2006 and four years later was named interim CEO for National Express, the first African American to hold the title at a publicly traded school bus company.
