My favorite was on April Fools’. I decorated the bus to look like it was Christmas, had magnets and garland up. I wore Christmas clothes and a Santa hat. I had a Santa bag filled with candy canes, and when the kids got on the bus, I told them all Merry Christmas. While I was driving to the elementary school, the entire bus was singing Christmas carols. When I did the junior high, there were so many smiles and their eyes lit up when they saw the Christmas decorations, And when we arrived at the junior high, and I was giving out the candy canes as they got off. I was a bus driver for one school for 23 years, and it was door to door. I knew them from 1st grade to up to 8th grade. And at another school for 13 years, grades kindergarten to 6th grade, same door to door. They were all my kids and watching them grow up. Still in touch with many of them. - Facebook/

I drive a school bus and handle all three levels of school: Elementary, junior high, and high school. I have worked to learn the name of each of my 35 elementary students. They are welcomed and greeted by name every time they get on the bus. They appreciate seeing me every day and so do their parents. I am a familiar face. Junior high and high school kids are harder to get to know as they keep to themselves but I still work to learn names. Even they appreciate the courtesy. I don’t have any bad kids. I was a spare on one route from November until March and had really connected with the kids. But I lost the route to a driver with higher seniority, when the original driver retired in March.
