What’s the most exciting place you’ve visited for work? Austin, Texas. Hands down. The city has fantastic en- ergy, and the food scene is outrageously good. I’m still dreaming about the brisket I had there. If you haven’t been, go hunt it down.

What’s your go-to karaoke song? “Does Your Mother Know” by ABBA. It’s cheesy, it’s got a funky bassline, and it’s impossible to sing without grinning.

If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be? Playing the guitar and singing. I’ve always admired people who can pick up an instrument and bring a room together. I’d love to be able to belt out a bit of Jim Croce – maybe Box #10 – without clearing the room.

GEORGE BRITTON VP Sales SMB, cargo.one

George Britton is Vice President of Sales SMB at cargo.one, leading the airfreight procurement plat- form’s services for small and medium sized customers. Prior to joining cargo.one this year, Britton has worked in many areas of digitalised business from SaaS to fintech and HR tech. He is based in Surrey, UK, and outside of work is a busy dad of three.

What was your dream job as a child? Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a profession- al rugby player or an Olympic swimmer – mainly because I spent most of my childhood either in the pool or cov- ered in mud on a rugby pitch. In retrospect, I think I was drawn to anything that involved a bit of adventure and a lot of teamwork, which, funnily enough, is a lot like my career now – minus the mud.

Window or aisle seat? Aisle, every time. I like to stretch my legs, and I’m not keen on the awkward “excuse me” shuffle when nature calls. Plus, I can make a quick getaway when the plane lands – always a bonus.

What’s the best business lesson you’ve learned the hard way? Never underestimate the power of listening – really listening – to your team and your customers. Early in my career, I thought leadership was all about having the answers. Turns out, it’s more about asking the right questions and creating space for others to shine. Some of the best ideas I’ve ever been part of started as offhand comments in a team meeting. Humility pays dividends.

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be? I’d love to swap with an air traffic controller at Heath- row. The sheer scale, the pressure, the coordination – it’s like conducting an orchestra, but with jets. Plus, I imagine it would make my inbox look positively relaxing by comparison.

Which three items would you bring to a desert island? A kettlebell, a rugby ball and a solar-powered Kindle. I reckon if I read The Obstacle Is The Way enough times, I’d figure out how to get off the island and get home.

What’s something on your bucket list? I’d like to cycle the length of the UK, from Land’s End to John o’ Groats. There’s something empowering about seeing the whole country first-hand, and I love a bike ride.

What’s the best airport in the world, and why? Gatwick. It’s my local, it’s usually quiet if you arrive in the evening for an overnight flight, and it feels like home turf. No frills, no fuss – just how I like it.

If air cargo had a mascot, what would it be? I picture a wise old owl wearing aviator goggles, clutching a tiny clipboard. Efficient, observant, and al- ways one step ahead – plus, who doesn’t love an owl?

How did you get into airfreight/logistics? Complete serendipity. I was totally new to air cargo

until I joined cargo.one. What started as pure curios- ity and admiration quickly became inspiration – the people, the sheer scale of the industry, and the sense that it’s on the verge of a digital leap really drew me in. It’s been a steep learning curve, but the community is incredibly welcoming and hardworking. I’m grateful to be part of it.

What quote has most resonated with you? “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, there- fore, is not an act but a habit.” Will Durant said it, and it’s stuck with me. It’s a reminder that the little things add up, and consistency is everything.
