I accompanied one couple on a shopping trip in the Marquesas Islands, as they were interested in purchasing a nice ukulele, but were a bit lost as to what they were looking for. I escorted them to a local shop and helped them pick out a lovely ukulele with a beautiful sound.
Sailing with Paul Gauguin Cruises is such a unique experience, and all of Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins are proud to be a part of the special memories our guests have. We even get to take part in the Polynesian blessing ceremony that guests celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary can participate in. We dance, sing a beautiful song called “The Road That Never Ends,” and recite a poem in Tahitian, French, and English. We even get to wrap the traditional tifaifai blanket around guests, which signifies the union of each couple.
Today, I’ve moved on from my career as a Gauguine, but I haven’t gone too far! As a Paul Gauguin Cruises Travel Concierge, I still get to connect with travelers on a daily basis and share my knowledge of the islands, whether they want to book the perfect shore excursion, schedule transfers to get them to the places they want to see, or just give them tips on how to explore on their own.
