Ultimate Chicago winter guide
Own this year’s Christkindlmarket
Be a gift-giving ninja with our guide to must-visit stalls (and where to get your stein). By Laura Rote
Christkindlmarket
Christkindlmarket is where it’s at as the holidays approach. Inspired by the German market from the 1500s, Chicago’s largest open-air Christmas festival has been bringing old- world European tradition to life in our own city for 20 years. Take in the sparkling lights and holiday music, order a mug of hot spiced wine and some sweet plum dumplings or schnitzel, and pick up memorable gifts (for friends or yourself, no judgment) while walking around the Picasso in Daley Plaza, the market’s home since 1997.
