FCC 4-H Club
Fund Fueling Fun Across Canada
Ottawa, ON, Dec. 7, 2023 – Following the selection of the 2023 recipients, the FCC 4-H Club Fund has surpassed $1 million in funding since its inception, and supported more than 2,050 4-H clubs across Canada over
decade. “Through our long-
standing partnership, FCC has supported the impor- tant work of bolstering the 4-H movement at
the
grassroots level,” said 4-H Canada interim CEO, Hugh Maynard. “The FCC 4-H Club Fund allows clubs and volunteer leaders to put vital resources to- ward the fun, safe, and ac- cessible programming for youth leaders that is the hallmark of 4-H in Canada.” Now in its 11th year,
this funding initiative is generously supported by FCC, and provides a total of $100,000 annually in grants to help 4-H clubs from coast-to-coast con- tinue to offer world-class positive youth develop- ment programming. “The 4-H Clubs
the last
across Canada should take immense pride in the work they do to provide a host of lifelong skills to a diverse network of young people,” said Justine Hendricks, FCC president and CEO. “It’s incredible to hit this funding milestone, but more importantly to know FCC is supporting an or- ganization that helps to de- fine the future success of the Canadian food and agriculture
industry
through its nationwide pro- gramming.” For 2023, a total of
203 clubs received grants of up to $500. The funding can be put towards any- thing from local 4-H events to program materials to costs associated with elim- inating barriers to entry, such as American Sign Language (ASL) training for members. For a full list of 2023
recipients, and further in- formation on the FCC 4-H Club Fund, visit 4-h-
canada.ca/club-fund. Ap- plications for the next round of funding will open in August 2024.

General Meeting, we say good-bye and thank you to our director, Dean Mougenot and welcome to our newest director, Kate McLarty. Every year, I feel that our skill lev-
els are improving in the show pen. What a great group of people we have in this association! While maintaining a healthy level of competition, we all still help each other out, and foster a great feeling of camaraderie... Keep it up!

Ontario Trail Rider Association Submission for ‘The Rider’ – January 2024 Issue
WELCOME 2024, and with that, the
Ontario Trail Riding Association has begun planning yet another year of various ride and/or camp opportunities. The Ride ‘n Camp dates in the Dufferin County Forest Main Tract have been booked and confirmed: May 17-20, June 21-24, July 17-22 (6 days), August 2-5, Au- gust 27-September 2 (7 days). We are start- ing a little later in May in hopes of warmer nights for this, our season opener. We also extended our last event in the forest to an- other full week, for everyone to enjoy mul- tiple days of late summer riding before the start up of school after Labor Day. We would like to continue to offer small groups at different riding levels and are always looking for members to help us ‘lead’ or ‘sweep’. Contact us if you are able to help out!
Additional rides: Two of our very
dedicated members have offered to host and are currently working on several more rides. The dates have not been finalized but they are looking at the Saugeen Bluffs in
July, and South Algonquin and Sandaraska in September. These rides will have to be pre-booked as they have a limited number of spots available for participants. Please, follow our facebook page for updates and details these and any other rides. We will continue to create event posts well ahead of the dates to make your planning easier. As a reminder, full OTRA registra-
tion requires proof of liability insurance, and we will continue to accept OE and ACERA. Annual memberships are still $30 per person, or $50 per family, and you can register either online or download the forms
by visiting
www.ontariotrailriders.com . Lastly, and back by popular demand
is our CASH PRICE EARLY BIRD Mem- bership Registration, with the deadline this year being February 28th, 2024. One mem- ber’s name will be drawn at our first ride in May and the lucky winner will be presented with their prize at their convenience. Good luck to all! In the meantime, enjoy the winter...
Happy trails, Sonja Wyss, OTRA President
