Kicking Off 2024
By Ashley Janzen ORHA members and guests
kicked off 2024 by celebrating our 2023 Year-End Award winners at the banquet in Brantford on January 27th. The event was well-attended, and was a nice opportunity to gather our ORHA family together before show season be- gins. Attendees enjoyed a great buffet, some drinks, and some dancing, clown- ing for the photobooth, bidding on some awesome prizes in the silent auc- tion, and checking tickets as door prize winners were called! A real highlight of the night, though, was a touching speech by President Dan Fletcher as he presented a surprised Terri Purdie with the Brian Heaton Award. It had every- one on their feet to honour the deserv- ing recipient, with tears and applause all around.

New Venue - In addition to the 2 shows put on by J&J Reining Inc. at Ancaster Fairgrounds, and the 1 show put on by Y Not Farms in Meaford, ORHA will host 2 shows at a new venue this year: REACH Equestrian Centre In Clinton! Several members ventured over to test the ground on February 3rd, and the re- sults were good! The right drag (kindly provided by Fletchers) and communi- cation with very accommodating venue staff at REACH about moisture and preparation left us feeling confident that we can offer our members great stopping ground and an excellent show
event, held at Ancaster Fairgrounds! ORHA will have a booth, with informa- tion and promotional materials available. Come visit, or come help!

plete 2 hours of volunteering for our as- sociation to be eligible for Year End Awards! While there are many opportu- nities for set up, working the gate, and scribing at shows, there are other ways to complete these hours, as well! To sign up to help out at a show, man the ORHA
booth at Can-Am, or…become a guest author for an ORHA feature in The Rider(?!), please contact newly self-ap- pointed Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley Janzen at
