EDITOR’S NOTE THE TEAM

Editorial Editor Martin Wharmby martin@opusbm.co.uk

Welcome to the 2022/23 Tomorrow’s Cleaning Products & Services Guide

After two years of living under the shadow of COVID-19, 2022 started with a renewed optimism that the recovery process for industries like ours is well underway, as more people return to the office and restrictions end.

The pandemic is now hopefully in full transition to being endemic, so hopefully the days of it causing widespread chaos and damage are behind us – but

industries like ours are still going to be needed to keep offices, venues and public space clean, and ensure people safe for the foreseeable future.

Perhaps the only positive we can say about the last 24 months is that we’ve

finally seen our ‘invisible workforce’ under the spotlight on the frontlines. Raising the industry’s profile has helped in many ways, not least in its pursuit of a

proper apprenticeship for the industry. Hopefully the momentum of the Cleaning Hygiene Operative scheme will bear fruit by the time this guide returns in 2023.

Something else set for continued success this year is the greater adoption of

technological advances throughout the industry. Robotics and automation are set for huge growth, particularly the field of ‘co-botics’. Designed not to replace

workers but to complement their work, it will be fascinating to see how the wider public react as more and more automated cleaning machines find their way into the wild.

We trust that you will find our comprehensive guide to the cleaning world useful, as inside this handy Products & Services Guide you’ll find all the necessary information from most of the key players across all sectors of the industry. From carpet cleaning to wipes and microfibres, dosing equipment to waste management, it’s all here in this definitive guide to the cleaning industry.

We hope this serves you well over the next 12 months – and here’s to a much better year ahead!
