NORCROS ADHESIVES SCOOPS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD THIRD

YEAR RUNNING Norcros Adhesives, tile adhesive, grout and preparation products manufacturer, scooped the Gold Award for Best Environmental Initiative at the recent Tile Association Awards.

This achievement is impressive enough in its own right, but is even more so since this is now the third year in a row that the company has won this prestigious accolade.

The award is in recognition of the many measures the company has put in place over recent years to improve the environmental management of its operations. This includes the way it runs its business, as well as the environmental impact of its individual products.

The company’s work on environmental improvement goes back to the time of its founding. Since the earliest days, it has been the intention to eliminate waste going to landfill. This zero waste target was achieved during 2015, a major achievement for a large-scale manufacturing business.

It has launched a wave of environmentally-friendly products in recent years, including Norcros Pro 30 Fast Track Eco Levelling Compound, which contains recycled crushed glass, rather than quarried sand and Norcros Pro Ply, an eco- friendly Tile Backer Board which is manufactured from mineral-based magnesium oxide, meaning that

The company is also a Gold member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. This is a construction industry initiative designed to promote sustainability in construction supply chains. It provides free practical support in the form of e-learning modules, tailored self-assessment and action plans, sustainability training and networking.

The Awards night was organised by The Tile Association, which represents the whole tiling industry. Norcros Adhesives Managing Director, Richard Wallis, and key members of his team attended the event to collect their Award in front of an audience drawn

from virtually every major company in the tiling industry.

Richard Wallis said: “We are very proud to have won this major accolade from our industry three times in succession.

“Improving our environmental performance has been key to the company since its founding and is important to all our colleagues here, so I’m delighted for them that we now have this unique track record of success. I am sure this will also spur us on to maintain and further improve the high standards which we now set ourselves in terms of environmental improvement.”

applied with a cloth or sealant applicator and, on rough cut/ textured surfaces, with a foam roller or paintbrush. Surfaces can be walked on four hours after the final application and can be returned to ‘heavy use’ after 24 hours.
