NEWS ARCO SUPERCHARGES SUSTAINABILITY IN UK SAFETY INDUSTRY
Arco has been awarded Platinum status by EcoVadis, placing the UK safety equipment supplier in the top 1% of organisations worldwide for sustainability performance.
The upgrade from Gold reflects a 10% improvement on last year’s score, with particularly strong results in the Environment pillar and significant gains in Labour and Human Rights. EcoVadis assesses businesses across Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
According to Arco, this recognition strengthens confidence in its ESG performance across supply chains and procurement.

W. L. Gore & Associates, creator of the GORE-TEX Brand, is celebrating 50 years of fabric innovation, highlighting five decades of performance protection alongside a renewed focus on durability and responsible product development.
Since its introduction in 1976 in the Early Winters Light Dimension tent, GORE-TEX fabrics have become widely used across garments, footwear and gloves, offering protection in environments ranging from everyday conditions to extreme operational settings.

consumption while maintaining performance.
Gore is also collaborating with more than 45 stakeholders and Mid Sweden University’s Sports and Outdoor Research Centre to develop a global durability standard for outdoor equipment.
The company said the milestone reflects both its legacy in materials science and its ongoing development of next-generation technologies, including expanded polyethylene (ePE) membranes and PYRAD Fabrics by GORE-TEX LABS.
Alongside product innovation, Gore is transitioning manufacturing
operations to 100% renewable electricity and increasing the use of recycled and lower-impact materials as part of efforts to reduce environmental impact.
“Responsible performance, where durability and sustainability advance together, is central to our approach,” Augustine added.
The 50th anniversary campaign, titled 50 Years of Going Further, Together, will include archive materials, historical timelines and multimedia content showcasing the brand’s development across outdoor, professional and defence applications.

The company’s EcoVadis result follows continued progress across its ESG programme, including reductions in carbon, water and waste, alongside independently audited standards through SMETA.
Recent reporting also highlighted 75% of company waste being recycled into new products, zero waste to landfill over the past year, and 15% of textiles sourced from certified recycled materials.
Arco said its approach to sustainable procurement includes increased supplier transparency on raw material sourcing and risks linked to conflict minerals and deforestation.
EcoVadis placed Arco in the top 1% of more than 150,000 companies assessed globally.
