AWARDS 2021 WT-1 CCTV TOWER BY WATCHTOWER

SECURITY SOLUTIONS Watchtower Security Solutions is part of a wider group which has been working across the world for 26 years. Informed by these many years of expertise, they offer industry leading, all-in-one surveillance solutions for valuable, remote, unstaffed and vulnerable locations.

Watchtower Security Solutions’ key product is the WT-1, a large, robust mobile mast with sophisticated cameras and equipment encased in a CE certified unit all offering CCTV surveillance 24/7. It has recently achieved Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation. SBD is an official police security initiative focusing on crime prevention through ‘designing out crime’, acting as a measurable standard for quality crime prevention products. Thus, the WT-1’s SBD accreditation guarantees its effectiveness in reducing crime.

The towers are equipped with four thermal/ optical turret analytics cameras, meaning they can quickly detect all types of intrusions in all weather conditions, minimising any resultant damage or loss. What’s more, line perimeter detection is linked to the monitoring station for instant detection of intrusion and crime. They also come with three power options: mains power, hydrogen/solar power, and methanol/solar power.

The benefit of the towers are threefold. Firstly, unwanted intruders on sites can be detected quickly, minimising damage or loss. Secondly, there are savings of over 60% in the equivalent manned guarding costs. Thirdly, often site insurance requires it.

WHAT THEY SAID:

Chris Finney, UK and Ireland Commercial Manager at Watchtower Security Solutions, said: “We are incredibly pleased to have our key product recognised in this way - and are very grateful to the readers of Tomorrow’s Health and Safety Magazine for voting for us.

“Watchtower Security Solutions are absolutely delighted to have been awarded second place in Tomorrow’s H&S Awards 2021 for our WT-1 CCTV Tower. It was an honour to be part of such a prestigious award which recognises companies whose efforts and innovations make a real difference to the safety and wellbeing of the UK workforce.”

Because the tower is monitored 24/7 and has 360° coverage, it can see far and wide across the site and also acts as a great visual deterrent to reduce the risk of chance crime.

DSE ASSESSMENT TOOL - IHASCO iHASCO has developed an updated version of their

DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessment tool, which is provided alongside the eLearning provider’s IOSH-approved DSE training course. Employees will be prompted to undertake the online assessment on completion of their training. Fully interactive, the assessment can provide advice and record any outstanding concerns with DSE setup so issues can be simply resolved by an employer, whilst keeping a historical record of any communication. This avoids the need for unnecessary paperwork and filing, as well as allowing employees who are working remotely to easily undergo an assessment.

Users will be able to complete the online assessment, in around 10 minutes, by selecting answers on important questions to ensure their safety when using DSE. It consists of eight topics including work equipment, chairs, screens and devices and the environment around their workstations. Full integration with a Learning Management System ensures employers are instantly notified of any issues raised by employees, whilst keeping employees updated with any responses.

Under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992, an employer is obliged to carry out DSE assessments to help protect DSE users from the health risks associated with its use:

such as RSI, headaches, eyestrain, back problems and other musculoskeletal issues. This interactive assessment allows organisations to work towards DSE compliance with ease and help prevent absenteeism from these types of workplace injury.

WHAT THEY SAID:

Nathan Pitman, Director at iHASCO, said: “The goal with our interactive DSE Assessment Tool is to provide employers with a convenient and effective way to carry out the necessary DSE assessments alongside workplace training. So far the feedback has been immense from our clients and we’re building more assessment tools as we speak to help employers in other areas of health and safety and HR Compliance.

“If we can provide our clients with these extra tools to help them remain compliant in an efficient and simple way, then we have delivered on two of our core values: to make a genuine difference and to make training simple. We are delighted to receive the third place trophy in Tomorrow’s Health & Safety Awards 2021, and are incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for us.”
