EDITOR’S VOICE Hello and welcome to the June issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.
At the time of writing, it is looking increasingly likely that the end of coronavirus restrictions, previously set for the 21st June, is to be pushed back four weeks amid a surge in cases driven by the Delta variant. It proves that we’re not quite done with this virus just yet and will have to live alongside it for years to come.
One of the key areas for health and safety managers at the minute is infection control. In this issue, as part of our Infection Control feature, Safe Surface Sensor notes that up to half the population do not believe that the usual day-to-day cleaning practices provide adequate protection from viruses, underlying the reassurance required by the public before they begin using offices, theatres and public transport in the same way they would have done before the onset of the pandemic. Both GOJO and Tork underline the importance of adopting good hand hygiene practices as one essential measure to stop the spread of infections.
Elsewhere, in our Plant Machinery & Site Safety feature, Riverside urges firms to remember the importance of training staff correctly in the use of waste machinery, and SiteZone Safety discusses why working closely with clients to properly understand their needs is key to developing successful anti-collision safety solutions. We also take an informative look at Hand/Arm Vibration and Training & Development.
There’s plenty to be getting stuck into here over the next month whilst you soak up the well-deserved sun.
Enjoy the issue.
