NEWS NEBOSH CHIEF

EXECUTIVE TO RETIRE NEBOSH has announced that Chief Executive, Teresa Budworth, is to retire in Autumn 2018.

Teresa has led NEBOSH for the past 12 years and has transformed the charity into a global brand in the field of health, safety and environmental qualifications.

Teresa said: “When I joined NEBOSH my aim was to modernise: to give NEBOSH the infrastructure for growth, to expand our international reach, and to work with our course provider partners to develop our product range to meet customers’ needs. I believe we have achieved that.

“One of my proudest moments was

being congratulated by Her Majesty the Queen when our Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Outstanding

10 CONSECUTIVE ROSPA GOLDS FOR

IAN WILLIAMS Ian Williams, a UK-based property services company within the education, commercial and housing sectors has announced

Achievement in International Trade was conferred. Since then we’ve continued to work in more and more countries.”

“Growing NEBOSH five-fold and

achieving that commercial success is important because it helps us to meet our charitable aims, but what’s most important to me, as a career health and safety professional, is that we have enabled more people around the world to achieve safe and healthy working conditions,” she added.

Sir Bill Callaghan, NEBOSH Chair said: “Teresa has made a tremendous contribution to NEBOSH, transforming its capability, reputation and finances. With her team, Teresa has ensured that NEBOSH has a sound foundation for the next stage of its development.”

Recruitment for her successor is being undertaken by Gatenby Sanderson.

it has achieved the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Award for its health and safety practices.

Presented as a result of Ian Williams having received 10 consecutive Gold Awards, the coveted President’s Award celebrates consistently high levels of performance in occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Richard Parry, Safety, Health and Environmental Manager for Ian Williams commented: “This is a terrific accomplishment for us as an organisation and an honour to receive the President’s award. It’s an absolute endorsement of how we place health and safety at the heart of our business, so that our employees can work safely, day in and day out.

“We’re committed to delivering what our customers need whenever and wherever they need it, and our teams are working in hundreds of properties across the UK daily, carrying out skills like painting, M+E, roofing and plumbing. But we never cut corners in the delivery of these

services. I am proud of the fact that Ian Williams is not only a great place to work, but a safe one too.

Mike Turner, Director of Ian Williams added: “Winning the President’s Award is an exceptional achievement by all concerned and a particular thank you to Richard Parry for his leadership in helping us to attain this. It’s especially important as it reflects excellence in our core business strategy of attracting, retaining and developing a sustainable, healthy and vibrant workforce which has safe working at its heart.

“Ian Williams wants to continue to be an employer of choice for people looking to develop their careers, or those who are new to the industry and are interested in our award-winning Apprenticeship schemes. However, this is only a realistic mission if health and safety is foremost in all our minds and practices to make us an attractive proposition as an employer. The President’s Award underpins this commitment,” he concluded.

Ian Williams is due to be presented with the award at a ceremony in July.
