COVER STORY HITTING THE BULL’S-EYE There are often many issues associated with prescription safety eyewear, which

can often result in employees ignoring PPE altogether. Here, ASE Corporate Eyecare explains why a bespoke service tailored to individual requirements provides an answer to these worries.

The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at Work Regulations Act 1992 concerns the employer’s obligation to provide PPE to every employee exposed to health and safety hazards at work. It is therefore vitally important that PPE equipment is suitable, appropriate and fit for purpose.

ASE Corporate Eyecare is part of Essilor International SA, the world’s largest ophthalmic manufacturer and offers complete eyecare solutions for prescription safety eyewear users, as well as more specialist forms of safety eyewear such as breathing apparatus inserts for Fire and Rescue Services, ballistic eyewear for Firearms Officers and innovative eyewear for military aircrew for the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

There are often many issues associated with prescription safety eyewear. Discomfort associated with side shields, fogging, or simply that the frames lack style. All of these can contribute to employees not wearing their eyewear for the purpose it was intended, causing serious issues and potential risks for employees and Health and Safety Officers.

Our prescription safety eyewear collection offers a comprehensive range of frames providing eye protection for use in even the most highly hazardous environments - from traditional safety spectacles with side shields, through to innovative wraparound polycarbonate eyeshields.

All of our prescription safety eyewear conforms to EN 166 1F and utilises the most robust and resilient materials. With a starting price of just £49 our EyecarePlan Protect vouchers provide a full eye and eyesight test, visual acuity report and single vision, bifocal or varifocal safety glasses with polycarbonate or trivex lenses.

In addition to our prescription safety eyewear service we have a full range of eyecare services to meet all of your employees’ eyecare needs:

VDU EYECARE For many of us, hours spent in front of a computer, tablet or phone is simply a fact of life. This can, however, cause headaches, fatigue, sore eyes and will ultimately impact on productivity. We offer a range of VDU eyecare solutions (starting at £25) and our i365 frame collection comprises both plastic and metal frames that can be personalised by the wearer.

This year we will be at the UK Health Show (ExCeL London, 25th-26th

September 2018) and Employee Benefits Live (2nd-3rd October 2018) exhibitions, so please do come and visit us.
