EDITORS VOICE EDITOR’S VOICE Hello and welcome to the April issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.
“How we do business continues to change,” says Louise Hosking, President of IOSH (Institute of Safety & Health), in her feature on Compliance & Risk Assessment for us this month. As the world becomes increasingly complex, with infectious disease, political and social divisions, burnout and isolation becoming more common, we are having to adapt our organisational health and safety measures at lightning speed.
We cannot, Hosking goes on to argue, expect our legislative frameworks to adapt fast enough within such a volatile and complex world of work, where our only current constant is change. We have to move towards viewing health and safety as a journey rather than a destination, placing our employees and our people at the heart of the organisation. You can see more of her suggestions on how to achieve this on page 26.
We’re now approaching one of the busiest times of the year in the industry calendar with several exhibitions opening their doors over the next couple of months. One of the most assured ways of ensuring you’re up to date with everything that’s going on in the industry is to get yourself to The Health & Safety Event (Birmingham, 5-7 April) and/or the Safety & Health Expo (London, 17-19 May 2022). With thousands of hours of seminar content and the ability to network with all the key associations, future-proofing your health and safety strategy becomes a lot easier.
Enjoy the issue.
