FLOORCARE & ENTRANCE MATTING | MILLIKEN

Available in co-ordinated colours and patterns, OBEX entrance products are engineered to increase the functionality of a building’s entrance without compromising on design or aesthetic. Simple and easy to work with, OBEX offers entrance systems that can be recessed or surface- mounted, including exterior and interior applications.

Depending on the size of the area, this system ensures that there is at least 25 feet of walk-off matting, which results in most dirt and moisture being prevented from entering the building. In zone one, a scraper product outside the entrance stops the dirt from first entering the building. The second zone comprises a combination of a scraper product and textile construction, this attacks the primary level of moisture and small particulates. The third zone is the 100% textile product, to target any remaining soil and moisture.

MAKING A GRAND ENTRANCE

One of the first things that you notice when you walk into a building is

cleanliness, and selecting the right entrance matting system can play a

big part in making a great impression. Milliken’s complete entrance flooring range can help facility owners and

managers make the best first impression.

Up to 90% of the soiling entering a facility is ‘walked in’ through the front door, which can result in several kilos of dirt brought in per day (rain can double or even treble this amount). When you think that approximately 40% of a maintenance budget is allocated to floor cleaning, and that efficient matting can save up to 65% of the cleaning costs dedicated to floors, it makes sense to choose your entrance flooring solution very carefully. This can also lead to significant future savings on floorcovering replacement.

For the best protection against the outdoor elements, public spaces and commercial buildings can benefit from a three zone barrier system. Milliken’s OBEX® product range has been designed in this way in order to prevent dirt and moisture from entering a building.

With an efficient entrance flooring system in place, building cleaning costs can be reduced significantly, as less dirt and moisture enter the building. Designed specifically for implementing the three-part entryway system, the OBEX range from Milliken offers a further cost advantage as it stands up to heavy wear and tear and has a long lifetime if maintained as per manufacturer’s recommendations. The modular tile range is suitable for indoor and outdoor installations and offers contractors better cost-in-use in public spaces than other mat systems. The modular design means that it is simple to install and replace if damage should occur, and small areas can be replaced easily and cost-effectively with minimum disruption.

Because of its high performance in dirt and moisture collection, the OBEX modular entrance matting system has been installed in the world’s busiest airports, including Atlanta and Beijing, to secure clean and safe floors in their demanding, high traffic areas. However, while selecting the right product is a good starting point, making sure it continues to perform is equally important. Daily vacuuming of the matting area and periodic deep cleaning are recommended to maintain durable performance.

Milliken as a company is constantly innovating and searching for new solutions to your cleaning needs, and last year launched Quadrus™, their first textile tile product, to coordinate perfectly with the Milliken carpet range.

Quadrus creates a stunning first impression as well as helping to create a barrier against the elements. Designed to provide a superior combination of performance and aesthetics, the ECONYL® dual-fibre polyamide yarn and open textile construction will stop dirt and moisture at the door, while allowing easy removal during maintenance. It is now offered in three contemporary designs, Galaxy, Comet and Star, available in a wide range of colours, and coordinates with the OBEX Prior™ and Forma™ modular grid system to create the perfect balance of design and function.
