SECURE THE NEW HYGIENE STANDARD
Here, specialist health and hygiene brand Tork, discusses its efforts to support businesses and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
for 250% more guests between refills than a conventional hand towel unit – while also providing each washroom visitor with a towel in just three seconds.
Essity considers Tork PeakServe to be the most significant hand drying innovation to have emerged on to the market in the past 20 years.
Another key innovation is Tork EasyCube, a data-driven cleaning system that enables washroom staff to check cleaning needs and dispenser refill requirements via a smartphone or tablet. Originally designed for use in the washroom, Tork EasyCube is now increasingly being employed by facilities managers to help predict cleaning needs around entire buildings.
Tork manufacturer Essity now offers a one-stop resource hub dedicated to helping firms to safely reopen after pandemic spikes and lockdowns.
The ‘Secure the new hygiene standard’ portal offers a free downloadable Back to Business Toolkit to help companies devise a reopening plan. It is one of the latest initiatives from Essity, which provides professional hygiene products and services to customers in more than 80 countries.
Also new from the company is an interactive training and support package aimed at cleaners and facility managers in the healthcare sector, plus two microfibre products designed to improve the efficacy of healthcare cleaning.
Tork Microfibre Reusable Cleaning Cloths and Tork Microfibre Disposable Cleaning Cloths both help to promote a safer and cleaner healthcare environment, while Tork Interactive Clean Hospital Training takes staff members through various real world cleaning scenarios in an engaging way.
Hand hygiene is one of the best tools we have to prevent the spread of infection, and all frequently-touched areas in the public domain need to be kept thoroughly clean to avert the risk of cross-contamination. Tork products and solutions include soap, paper towels, washroom dispensers, hand sanitisers, microfibre cloths and disposable wipers along with toilet tissue and napkins. These are designed for use in a range of environments including the retail, commercial, industrial, hospitality, educational and healthcare sectors.
Essity’s latest products include the Tork PeakServe Continuous Hand Towel Dispenser which has 18 patents against its name. This is designed to speed up hand towel delivery and improve washroom efficiency while also preventing hand towel run-outs.
Towels in the Tork PeakServe dispenser are compressed during production to make them twice as compact as standard hand towels. This means the Tork PeakServe dispenser caters

Observational studies have shown that cleaning activities can increase by up to 62% in facilities following the installation of Tork EasyCube. This is because the system reduces the time spent manually checking washroom dispensers for refill needs.
Tork is dedicated to assisting customers in getting ready for business. And the company has been working hard to support clients and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the first wave, Essity successfully converted one of its test lines into a new production line and produced more than 100,000 masks. The company then donated 51,600 items of personal protective equipment including masks, gloves and glasses to hospitals in Italy.
Essity also sent 44 pallets of baby diapers and feminine protection to help stressed communities in Greece. And it donated $200,000 to the United Nations Foundation to support the World Health Organisation’s vaccine drive.
The expertise of Tork in terms of functional design and sustainability – along with its extensive hygiene knowledge - has made the brand a market leader.
Besides offering Tork hygiene and health systems, Essity also manufactures baby care, feminine care and incontinence products plus medical solutions under a range of brands including Tena, Jobst, Leukoplast, Libero, Libresse, Lotus, Nosotras, Saba, Tempo, Vinda and Zewa.
