BEYOND AIRFLOW Vectair analyses the importance of passive aircare in the modern washroom.

Walk into a washroom and fragrance can shape your impression of the space before you notice almost anything else. It can influence perceptions of cleanliness, reinforce a positive experience and, increasingly, contribute to how a facility presents itself to visitors.

For facility professionals, however, delivering that experience is not as simple as choosing a fragrance. The physical environment matters too.

Passive aircare has long offered a simple approach to washroom fragrance, using the natural movement of air to distribute fragrance without the complexity associated with programmed systems. But not every washroom benefits from sufficient natural airflow. Enclosed spaces, individual cubicles and areas with limited circulation can make consistent fragrance distribution more challenging.

That presents an interesting question: should the limitations of a space determine whether passive aircare is suitable?

Bringing airflow to passive aircare Vectair developed the V-Air Flow dispenser around this challenge.

Rather than relying entirely on existing air movement, V-Air Flow uses Venturi Effect technology to help distribute fragrance where natural airflow is limited. This allows facilities to retain the simplicity associated with passive aircare while expanding the range of spaces where it can be considered.

But airflow is only one part of the modern washroom aircare conversation.

Facility professionals are balancing increasingly varied objectives, from sustainability commitments and operational requirements to the experience they want to create for building occupants and visitors. As those priorities evolve, aircare specification needs greater flexibility too.

Different priorities require different options For facilities where sustainability is an important consideration, V-Air Flow Refills provide a 30-day fragrance solution made from more than 50% plant-based EVA. Paired with the V-Air Flow dispenser, which is made from 100% recycled plastic, the system provides an option

for organisations looking to incorporate sustainability considerations into their washroom aircare specification.

This approach forms part of a much wider commitment at Vectair. Through our Being Responsible initiative and participation in the United Nations Global Compact, we continue to look at how responsible business practices can be reflected across our operations, partnerships and product development.

For other washrooms, the priority may be different. The introduction of new V-Air Flow Max Refills expands that choice for facilities where maximum fragrance output is the priority. Made from 100% EVA to maximise fragrance loading, V-Air Flow Max is designed to deliver greater fragrance intensity for 30 days, helping create a stronger, more noticeable fragrance presence throughout the washroom.

The benefit goes beyond fragrance strength alone. Maximum fragrance output gives facilities another way to shape the washroom experience, particularly in environments where fragrance is intended to make an immediate impression. V-Air Flow Max can be used independently in spaces with sufficient natural airflow or paired with the V-Air Flow dispenser where additional circulation is needed to help distribute fragrance throughout the space.

Importantly, this is not a question of one refill being better than another. It is about giving facilities the ability to choose according to their priorities.

Fragrance as part of the washroom experience That choice becomes particularly relevant as fragrance takes on a greater role in the overall experience of commercial spaces.

Scent marketing is often associated with hotels, retail environments and hospitality, but the principle has relevance in the washroom too. A thoughtfully selected fragrance can complement the wider facility experience, helping turn a traditionally functional space into one that feels considered and cared for.

The washroom is, after all, part of the customer, employee or visitor journey. The experience inside it can influence perceptions of the facility beyond the washroom door.
