Hello everyone and welcome to the January issue of Tomorrow’s FM.
I hope the festive period provided you with a well deserved break and I would like to wish all of our readers a very Happy New Year!
I’d first like to take the time to introduce myself as the new editor of Tomorrow’s FM. This industry, from what I have observed so far, seems incredibly enthusiastic about delivering the highest level of professional
servicing to buildings and estates up-and-down the country and I am excited and eager to learn more about the industry as the year progresses. I hope
you’ll all join me in thanking Rebekah Thompson for everything she has done for this magazine and wish her all the best for the future.
We’re not even half way through the first month of the year and already a few of us are falling ill with various winter bugs and colds. It seems perfectly apt
therefore, that in this issue we look at Healthcare and Hospital facilities. Whilst Siemens and W.E.T take us through their latest ventures, Essity offer some
solutions to a frequent problem found to regularly impact healthcare workers. In the HVAC section, ebm-papst make an upgrade to one of the oldest banks in
the UK and ICS offer advice on how to keep a site’s temperature control system running effectively. We are also revisiting Recycling and Waste Management, with Cromwell Polythene offering ways of getting rid of difficult waste and
Wastecycle describing their role in a new £31.5m development at the University of Nottingham.
January also seems like the perfect time to start looking ahead at the trends
that will define the year, which is why, in the Flooring section of the magazine, Axis House suggest some subtle changes in design tastes that are likely to shape the way the industry evolves throughout 2018. You will also find our
regular news and product updates in our What’s New section, alongside our usual FM columnist Liz Kentish.
Finally, back for their seventh year, the nominations for the Tomorrow’s FM Awards have been announced, so don’t forget to go and vote for your favourite.
I am sure there is enough quality content in this issue to keep you occupied in between visits to the gym and sneaky trips down to the local pub. Happy Reading!
