Chroma is a national provider of arts therapy services in the UK, working with social and health care partners and local authorities to meet the increasing need for effective rehabilitation support for people with brain injuries, dementia or other neurological diseases.


Chroma is working closely with care services to help provide person-centred rehabilitation. It recently partnered with Voyage Care to provide neurologic arts therapy services, including Neurologic Music Therapy, to patients who are undergoing neuro-rehabilitation, and provide ongoing care and support for people with brain injuries and complex clinical needs. The collaborative rehabilitation process at Voyage Care encourages, educates and supports people to take control of their lives aſter a brain injury and regain their independence and confidence.


Alan Marshall, Central West Managing Director at Voyage Care, said: “Looking at the evidence surrounding music therapy, music is an extremely powerful tool which we can use to help those living with a brain injury, to begin to lead a fulfilling life once again. Our aim is to help improve and enhance the lives of all those we provide therapy to as well as promote independent living, build their confidence to achieve their goals and improve the outcomes for those living with brain injuries.”


Chroma has also partnered with specialist care home Willowbeck, owned by Exemplar Health Care, to provide music therapy to support people with neurological development, physical rehabilitation and general wellbeing. Service users with a variety of complex conditions will be playing musical instruments to enable their functional, neurological and psychological rehabilitation. Service users with communication and social needs will be offered sessions based more around singing and song-writing, and will be aimed at psychological and

Helen Baxendale, Exemplar Health Care’s Clinical Director, said: “Many of our service users enjoy arts and craſts so I’m sure many will take to the music therapy sessions. I look forward to seeing positive developments at the end of the eight weeks.”

not doing in coordinating movement.”


Within both care facilities, experienced therapists work with residents with a range of musical instruments, singing and song-writing to help develop both communication and physical abilities in open group sessions and also one-to-one sessions with residents.
