DRIVING MISS DAISY FRANCHISE LAUNCHES SUBSIDIARY TO MEET DEMAND

Driving Miss Daisy franchise network provides specialised transportation and companion services for elderly and disabled people. The demand for its service is growing at such a rapid rate that the UK Master License Holder has launched a directly- managed service to deliver Driving Miss Daisy services where no franchise currently exists. This service will be delivered under the Driving Miss Daisy brand but managed by a wholly owned subsidiary company called B3 Passenger Care Ltd.

Driving Miss Daisy UK Limited was incorporated in 2014, and in 2016 obtained the rights to operate the Driving Miss Daisy Brand in the UK under a 50-year licence from the New Zealand company that devised the concept. Today, it has over 30 franchisees operating across the UK delivering over 55,000 bookings a year with a value of over £1,200,000.

Essentially, the company offers a caring companionship and transportation service using specialised vehicles operated and driven by highly qualified drivers. All relevant companion drivers are trained and equipped to enable people living with physical or mental disabilities, or a range of chronic conditions, to live their lives to the fullest extent possible.

Each Companion Driver will have already undergone training and gained qualifications in private hire driving and testing;

STRATEGIC THINKING FOR EFFICIENT CARE HOME MANAGEMENT

When it comes to providing care for vulnerable or elderly residents, effective management of your premises and facilities is essential. Urgent Technology has released a brand-new eBook, “Under Pressure”, explaining how you and your team can choose a more efficient way of managing your premises and facilities.

Facilities management (FM) can be a tough job in any sector but, given that care home premises are typically older, repurposed buildings that need regular repair and attention, the task of managing and maintaining facilities at a care home can be tougher still.

Dealing with critical issues, chasing suppliers and updating paperwork and spreadsheets, not to mention managing the requirements to meet increasing regulation, can be stressful,

positive handling and management of wheelchair operations; emergency first aid; Dementia Friends or Dementia Champions, working with visually-impaired people; and risk management.

To meet the rapidly escalating demand for its services, on February 1st 2019, the brand owner has launched B3 – a direct managed company – to complement its franchise operation. It already has a number of drivers undergoing training and is developing a new range of specialist training courses, specifically targeting niche areas within the NHS and associated markets.

In conjunction with this exceptional level of companion driver training, Driving Miss Daisy is producing a number of specialist wheelchair accessible vehicles, which will be fitted with a variety of medical aids and products.

It is already forging partnerships with specialist holiday companies, retirement homes and villages. With over 12 million people with disabilities who oſten are not able to use taxi services to reach their holiday departure point or holiday location, due to the additional support they need, the brand owner is increasingly supporting holiday goers to start and end their holiday in a safe and supported way. These services are provided directly by B3 Passenger Care Limited under the Driving Miss Daisy Brand.

Gregory Blezard, Chief Executive Officer, commented: “The demand for our services has reached such a level, that it can no longer be fulfilled by a purely franchised business model. That’s why we have launched B3. To efficiently control both of these companies, we have also developed a BETA-tested proprietary soſtware system.
