Hello and welcome to the October/November issue of Tomorrow’s Care!

This October saw people right across the world take to social media, hold events and generally raise awareness of and try to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, as they marked World Mental Health day on 10th

October. Whilst we do try to cover this important topic all year

round, we have an extensive focus on the subject of Mental Health within this issue. Sharing his story of his own struggles with mental illness, Rafik Hamaizia, Expert by Experience Lead at Cygnet Health Care, tells

us how he uses his own experiences to help others. We also have advice from Willis Towers Watson on how to protect the mental health of your care employees, as well as expert comment from organisations such as Exemplar Health Care and more.

October was also the month which recognised World Hospice & Palliative Care day on 13th

October, held to celebrate and show support for hospice and palliative care services around the world. In honour of this, we

also dedicated a section to the topic in our issue. Offering end of life care comes with a wide range of complexities, which are amplified if

the individual in your care is also suffering with dementia. To help you understand such complexities further so you can tailor your care plan as best possible, Dr. Karen Harrison-Dening, Head of Research and Publications at Dementia UK, outlines the main considerations. You can also see the bright and beautiful refurbishment that Altro helped to

complete for a children’s hospice, and get advice on providing live-in end of life care from the Good Care Group.

Elsewhere in this edition, we also have dedicated features on Patient

Handling and Waste & Sustainability, and Belmont Healthcare Group’s Managing Director answers our ten questions.

I hope you enjoy the issue!
