TOGETHER FOREVER Gracewell of Maids Moreton recently helped two very special residents to celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary.

James and Beryl Bonham met at the age of just 17 in 1942 while working for the county treasurer’s office, where Beryl was a secretary and James worked in the cash office.

From fond friends, their relationship progressed when James was posted

abroad with the RAF two years later, with the two sharing precious wartime letters. When James returned in 1946 to join his family farm, the couple became engaged before marrying in St Mary’s Church in Aylesbury on 18th April 1947. They held their reception at the Kings Head in the town but, unfortunately, were faced with a photographer who went missing and leſt them without any wedding photos.

Both worked hard on the family farm and celebrated the birth of their children during their long and happy marriage. Before moving to Gracewell of Maids Moreton, the two pursued a range of hobbies, which included James’s love for golf and the couple’s shared enjoyment of bridge. As a farming couple, the two became used to pulling together whilst both living and working in the same close proximity, and credit their closeness as being key to the success of their marriage.

James and Beryl now reside happily together at Gracewell of Maids Moreton.
