WHAT'S NEW? GLASGOW CARE HOME CELEBRATE RESIDENT’S 75TH BIRTHDAY WITH SISTER REUNION
HC-One Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Care Home, in Glasgow, was filled with joy and laughter as resident Jenny Fraser celebrated her 75th birthday with a surprise reunion that brought her together with her three sisters aſter 13 years apart.
The heartwarming event, orchestrated by the care home’s dedicated team, turned a special day into an unforgettable memory for Jenny and her family. Jenny’s sister Wendy, from Oban, reached out to Carers Ailsa Craig and Obi Okoye, and Wellbeing Coordinator Fiona Pryce with a dream to reunite the family for Jenny’s milestone birthday.
The care home team jumped at the opportunity, collaborating with Wendy to plan a surprise aſternoon tea that would bring together Jenny, Wendy, Moyra, from Prescot, and Heidi, from Chorley. Expecting a simple walk in the garden, Jenny was left speechless when she entered the lounge to find her
sisters waiting, adorned with party hats and beaming with excitement.
Fiona Pryce, HC-One Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Wellbeing Coordinator, said: “Resident birthdays are always a fun time at Ailsa Craig, and we love to make it extra special for our residents and their families.
“Seeing Jenny and her sisters together sharing such joy aſter so many years apart was truly heartwarming and a testament to the power of family.”
The four sisters, who reunited for the first time in 13 years, shared an emotional afternoon filled with laughter and cherished memories over a delightful aſternoon tea prepared by Ailsa Craig’s kitchen team.

LONG-SERVING TEAM MEMBER CELEBRATES 10 YEARS AT OAKLAND CARE
Oakland Care has celebrated the milestone 10-year anniversary of its People Development Partner Michelle Walker.
Operating as part of the Head Office team, Michelle plays a crucial role within the business with a responsibility for helping
to support and shape the training and personal development of team members spanning across Oakland Care’s 10 care homes in the South East and London.
Whilst first joining as a Night Care Assistant, Michelle was given the opportunity to transition into a role more centred on supporting the progression of colleagues.
This move not only allowed Michelle to thrive in her personal career – achieving promotions to more senior positions over the years – but hugely benefitted the business as well which has been able to sustain its high standards for professional
10
development and support as it has continued to grow as a care home provider.
As a member of the Head Office team, Michelle has contributed to the creation of positive and productive work environments for Oakland Care’s teams.
Michelle said: “I’m extremely proud of the journey I have been on with Oakland Care. There are so many things I love about this job, from the residents who I have the pleasure of spending time with, to the teams who are happy in their jobs and work incredibly hard every single day.
“To operate an excellent and outstanding care home requires everybody – from the front-line care teams, through to catering, and maintenance – to be happy, motivated, and pushing in the same direction. I’m proud to help play my part in creating an environment that allows us to achieve this across our homes.”
To celebrate her years of service and remarkable achievement, Michelle was rewarded with additional time off from Oakland Care, which she has enjoyed with her family.
