FITNESS & EXERCISE
needs care, but knows that she can call on Walfinch's care again whenever needed, and tells others about how Walfinch's active care helped her recovery.
TACKLING COMMON CONDITIONS
Greater fitness can help tackle conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and dementia.
We are also raising awareness of osteoporosis, where the bones weaken and break easily. It affects over three million people in the UK, and half of women over 50 and a third of men over 60 will have a fracture due to osteoporosis. As care providers we commonly see the results.
However, exercise could slow down the loss of bone strength, or even improve it. That's why we are active in raising funds for the Royal Osteoporosis Society to help spread awareness,
and highlighting its free, online Bone Check, which gauges an individual's risk of osteoporosis.
THE BUSINESS CASE
This focus on fitness gets our service known locally. Clients whose physical and mental health improves as a result of active care, or going to Thrive Clubs, tell others. Local GPs and other health service providers get to know about it and are more likely to refer clients.
REDEFINING CARE
The message that care can include activity and socialising, which improves physical and mental health and overall wellness, redefines what care is about. Clients will benefit, as will care businesses, and the whole image of the care sector.
