DIESPEKER’S MD MAKES BRITAIN PROUD IN EUROPEAN

CHAMPIONSHIPS Flooring specialist Diespeker & Co’s Managing Director, John Krause, recently returned from Poland flushed with success, after representing Great Britain in the 2016 ETU Challenge Long Distance Triathlon European Championships held in Poznań.

Taking part in the hotly contested 55- 59 age group, John swam 3.8km in 1 hour 13 minutes and cycled 180km in 6 hours and 40 minutes. Immediately after the cycle and in temperatures reaching 28°C, John had to start the marathon, running the 42.195km in 4 hours 20 mins, only slightly slower than his very first London Marathon. His total time was 12 hours 20 minutes and 53 seconds, which found him placed third out of British competitors, and eighth in the whole of Europe. He was 153rd overall, in a field that included professional athletes.

John has now completed 130 marathons, and his next target is to take part in the World Championships Duathlon in Canada in 2017, which means training to ensure he can reach speeds of over 20 miles an hour on the bike for a distance of 25 miles.

John says that other athletes taking part in Poznan trained for over 30 hours a week, and he doubts whether

he can match this himself on top of all the hours he puts into his other passion, overseeing the growing success of Diespeker & Co.

John said: “Representing Britain this weekend was unquestionably one the best and proudest moments of my life. I made sure I had a British flag to wave as I crossed the line.”
