Future Prospects

Looking ahead, the medium- term should remain positive for resilient floorcoverings but this will be dependent upon the levels of confidence surrounding both the domestic and contract sectors.

Whilst construction new work output looks set to more subdued over the medium-term, the level of RMI activity from the contract sector in particular should underpin demand for resilient flooring. Planned replacement and refurbishment projects for health and education will feed demand, although pricing pressures may lead to some specification switch activity.

The domestic sector is likely to benefit from the ‘improve not move’ trend with consumers potentially focusing on higher value products such as LVT. In addition, the private rental sector could also provide opportunities for growth as landlords increasingly focus on ease of installation and cleaning criteria for rental properties.
