BADGE OF HONOUR
Amtico Signature LVT has been used to create bespoke flooring for an Oxfordshire Primary School.
The Grange is a public primary school in Banbury, Oxfordshire, which educates over three hundred children between the ages of four and 11. During the summer holidays, the school took the opportunity to renovate; knocking down a wall that separated two main dining areas and employing Abstract Flooring Co to update the floors in several key areas, including the main hall, reception, classroom foyers and stairwells.
HIGH RESULTS Large quantities of natural light meant any imperfections, no matter how slight, would be visible, so after removing the existing tired parquet flooring from the main hall and the worn carpet from other areas, Abstract Flooring Co set about levelling all the surfaces to create an even base. Once the subfloor preparation work was complete, the company laid Blonde Oak, a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) from Amtico’s Signature collection, with the natural appearance of the wood design creating a calm setting.
BESPOKE DETAIL The project’s pièce de résistance is in the incorporation of the school’s emblem, which integrates seamlessly into the flooring design. The logo is made from Amtico’s Metal Gold Leaf and Paris LVT, combined with the company’s Pure Plain White stripping. As it is made from the same product, the creative motif sits flush with the surrounding oak-effect tiles to create a memorable ‘wow-factor’ in the school’s reception.

Incorporating visual branding elements into commercial design is an effective way to strengthen a brand’s proposition. Amtico’s in-house creative team, CAD expertise, advanced cutting capabilities and unrivalled product range allow for the creation of intricate bespoke designs made from LVT.
As the school’s main hall and corridors are subject to heavy footfall, the extremely high durability of the Amtico product was a significant factor in its specification. The design-led, high performance LVT has a total thickness of 2.5mm with a 1mm wear layer, ensuring they can be relied on in the toughest environments.
INSTALLATION Commenting on the project, Steven Settle, Director at Abstract Flooring Co Ltd, said: “The main hall and another large area were combined to create a large dining space that would be used by the whole school, so easy-to-clean LVT was the obvious choice. We chose Amtico Signature as it has a thick 1mm wear layer, making it highly durable, and its wide variety of colours and design layouts enabled us to create a modern look.
“Amtico was very helpful, particularly with the design of the logo. The company recommended what colours would work best to recreate the school’s emblem and even supplied technical drawings the same day so we could see exactly how it would look, and it was perfect!”
