WHAT ARE VACUUM DRILL BITS?

The shaft of the bit is hollow, so instead of using spiral blades to push debris upward, the suction from the vacuum pulls the dust up through the shaft, eliminating the need for cleanup.

You might not think twice about drilling holes for your RH sensors. Though it isn’t very difficult, there are some things you’ll want to keep in mind for accurate RH moisture testing – hole size and silica dust.
First, let’s look at why hole size matters. The holes you drill are created for your RH sensors. Unevenly shaped holes, or holes that don’t meet your RH sensor’s hole diameter requirements, prevent proper sensor anchoring, which can compromise the accuracy of your testing results. So, a random drill is not going to work – you need one designed for precise hole measurements for your RH sensors.
Another thing you’ll need to think about is the silica dust that’s naturally created while drilling. On top of being a safety hazard, this dust can mess up RH readings if it’s not thoroughly vacuumed out.
Most of the time, flooring installers have to use a small brush to manually loosen up debris before inserting a vacuum attachment into the hole to remove any remaining dust. If you’re working on a big job where you need to drill 50-70 holes, something as seemingly-simple as dust cleanup can become a very time- consuming process.
