BEAULIEU INTERNATIONAL GROUP CELEBRATES
SAFETY STATUS A Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G) plant in Meaulne, France has been accorded the Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status from insurer FM Global. This status means that the plant meets the most stringent fire prevention and protection demands there can be.
One of 29 B.I.G plants around the world, the Meaulne factory annually produces 1.5 million square meters of parquet flooring that is sold under the Berry Wood brand, itself part of the BerryAlloc brand. These figures make B.I.G the biggest producer of wood-engineered parquet in France.
Jean-Marc Legrand, Director of Berry Wood said: “Because we work with wood, fire safety is one of the most important prevention duties that we have – to our people, our products, our machinery and to the environment.”
The Meaulne site is the fourth B.I.G. factory to receive HPR status and the third in Europe. It scored exceptionally well in its FM Global assessment which

DIRECTOR RETIRES David Hibbert, F. Ball and Co. Ltd. sales director and two-time CFA President, will retire this month after 27 years’ service with the company.
David joined F. Ball in 1992, with over two decades’ experience in the flooring industry, as Liaison Manager before becoming National Sales Manager in 2000. He was appointed to his current role in 2003.
A widely-recognised ambassador for the industry, David has been a member of the CFA Council for almost as long as he has worked for F. Ball, twice being elected CFA President; for the first time in 2000, and again in 2016, holding the role for two years on each occasion. He used his platform as president to voice the perspective of contractors on issues affecting them, such as skills shortages and retentions.

focused on aspects including fire protection, protection against natural hazards, mechanical breakdown of machinery and cyber risks.
Its overall risk mark of 76 ranks it within the world’s top 25% of the wood product manufacturing industry for fire risk prevention and protection.

Asked what he is most looking forward to about retiring, David said: “Being able to choose for myself when I do things rather than having to fit everything in around work. I’m looking forward to playing golf, walking and going on holiday more often. I’ll also step up the charity work that I’m involved in.”
