EDITOR’S VOICE Hello and welcome to the August issue of TCF.

Last month we visited FloorSkills training centre’s open day in Solihull. It was fantastic to see such a huge turn out for what was very successful event. Over 200 visitors, mainly contractors and small retailers, showed up to network with each other and the 40 manufacturers who were showcasing their products.

From the conversations I had with some of the attendees it was clear that everyone felt the open day had been a triumph and the industry is embracing the show as a key date in the flooring calendar.

Also taking place on the day, was the live heat grand final of the brand-new European LVT Fitter of the Year. All eight of the finalists created some really unique and creative design floors. Don’t miss our spotlight feature on page 13 to find out who took the highly coveted first place.

Our Makeover of the Month also features an award-winning installation where the designer used Altro Ensemble LVT in varying shades to create a random herringbone effect and provide a stylish, contemporary identity for a new Mexican restaurant.

In this issue, we have lots of key advice for contractors. From working with reclaimed wood to specifying flooring for aged care facilities and the best methods for subfloor preparation, we have it covered.

I hope you enjoy reading!
