ease of use,” she says. “Some of the housekeeping team members are slightly built and worried the machines may be too heavy but they managed them with no problem at all and were thrilled.”
Sunrise in Virginia Water deploys a Polaris to each of the four floors of the home for swift and easy access to areas to be cleaned and also to avoid cross-contamination. The machines are at work constantly and all is working well, helped by Prochem solutions: “We are getting great results from Extraction Plus, Odour Fresh and Liquid Defoamer,” Betty reports.
The team at Sunrise clearly goes above and beyond to ensure all residents’ individual needs and requirements are met; that ethos extends to ensuring that their environment remains immaculately clean and presentable, everyday.
Polaris technology is particularly well suited to high volume areas, ranging from long corridors to large dining and conference suites. The range comes in four different sizes which vary according to capacity, brush width and vacuum motor output but all come fitted with a 120psi pump.
The Polaris 500 and 700 have a single 2-stage vacuum motor. The 500 has a 14-inch cleaning width and a 19-litre capacity while the 700 has a 1-inch cleaning width and a 26.5-litre capacity.
FIVE-STAR CLEANING Leading retirement and care home group
Sunrise Senior Living has specified Prochem Europe’s Polaris 800 cleaning extractors at its home in Virginia Water, Surrey.
Sunrise Care Homes rank amongst the finest quality in the UK. The Virginia Water home provides first-class, personalised dementia care and assisted living together with respite care and is equipped to a high standard with expansive en-suite rooms, dining, activity rooms and lounges, a 24-hour bistro and wheelchair-friendly, landscaped gardens. Naturally, these high-quality interiors demand equally high levels of upkeep.
When the previous technology being used to clean was failing to live up to expectations at the 94-room care home, housekeeping manager Betty Tompkins contacted Prochem Europe distributor Wightman & Parish, whose Paul Reuben duly suggested that Sunrise consider the Polaris.
No stranger to the brand, Betty had used Prochem technology at her previous home. She commented: “I already knew they were proven as efficient and easy to use machines and the chemicals from Prochem are also first rate,” says Betty, who together with her team were winners of the Group’s ‘Best Housekeeping Team’ of 2016.
“Phil Jones came over and demonstrated the machine for us and we were struck not only at its performance but relative

The Polaris 800 and 1200 are both fitted with twin 2-stage vacuum motors and a 19-inch cleaning width; tank capacity for the 800 is 30 litres while the 1200 has 45 litres.
Prochem Europe points out that while they are called walk- behinds, in effect users pull them along assisted by the brush rotation.
Connect any of these machines with Prochem’s AC1041 hose and new Hard Floor Squeegee Scrub Wand and their combined usage not only enables fast and easy passes on large-scale carpeted areas but also on hard-floors.

The Hard Floor Wand’s rotatable head allows users to effectively clean greasy kitchen or heavily soiled bathroom floors with the hard brush side of the head and then extract with the squeegee side. More versatile still, all Polaris machines can be used with a hose and wand or hand tool for smaller areas and upholstery.
