but kept the triptych. Since that time, the complete set has been exhibited only once before, at the Jotenkaku Museum in the Shokoku-ji monastery in 2007. Only this later triptych, has remained in the temple, but the Petit Palais exhibition gives the public a rare opportunity to see the ensemble as its creator originally intended, as


the


triptych is also on show in Paris. Te exhibition is being shown to


mark the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Japan in 2018, with the title Japonismes 2018 and has been made possible by exceptional loans from


Japan’s Imperial Collection, jointly


organised by the Japan Foundation, Nikkei Inc, the Imperial Household Agency of Japan, the Petit Palais, and Paris Musées. Te curators are Aya Ota, Chief Curator of the Museum of Imperial Collections (Sannomaru Shozokan) and Manuela Moscatiella, head of the Japanese Collections, Musée Cernuschi, Paris.
