Welcome

We are almost half way through 2024 and the rate of

innovation in the process industry shows no sign of letting up. I continue to be surprised by the array of equipment and techniques being developed.

Process engineers should fi nd many articles of interest in this issue - they include product insight, case-studies and business tips - not least around safety. For example, Dangerous Dust (page 44), aims to help plant operators avoid the problem and fall out following combustible dust explosions.

A Better Way To Bulk Bag (page 22) is another helpful piece that provides insight into how to avoid product wastage and improve eff iciency.

Our cover story from Knick

provides interesting insights into how the company's cCare system has begun to automate cleaning and calibration for reliable pH measurements in the bio-pharma sector - arguably one of the most sensitive in the process industry. As usual we have included a

smattering of stories on green initiatives. These include Climate Friendly Dairy (page 40) which explores a fascinating new technique from Lyras that treats water with light rather than heat thereby signifi cantly reducing carbon emissions on farms and Reduce Your Footprint (page 12) which looks at a technology from Japanese company Yokogawa that links with SAP and helps plant managers understand and manage their carbon emissions. Exhibition season is very much upon us and I will attend as many as my schedule allows. As such, I hope to meet a few of you in person over the coming months! Nicola Brittain Editor
