OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Hivekit allows operators to aggregate data from multiple vendors and
equipment manufacturers, allowing them to break out of closed ecosystems

A cloud-based platform allows operators to track people, vehicle and data sources in surface and open pit mines

ost modern mines utilise a multitude of subcontractors, each with equipment from
different vendors: this strategy makes systems integration and coordination a challenge and can result in lower overall operational efficiency. However, German and UK-based software developer Hivekit sets to tackle this. Indeed, the company has developed
a vendor agnostic operation management system that allows mine operators to take direct control of their site across vendors and data silos. Already in use across the urban mobility and agricultural industries, Hivekit has expanded its expertise into the mining industry, with its cloud- based platform capable of tracking people, vehicles, machines and data

sources, and visualises them in a 3D digital twin. According to the developers of the
platform, mining operators can gain a real-time view of every movement on site and investigate machine-specific data with customisable user interfaces (UIs). This makes it easier for operators to visualise the load, speed and route of haul trucks, show historic penetration rates for a shaft sinking machine, or see security clearances and current tasks for site staff, to name a few.
DIGITALLY FOCUSED The platform also has an accompanying app that allows users to track workers and the vehicles they are operating, receive tasks and communicate with site managers. A
custom interface builder also make it possible to create mobile UIs for metric display and location-specific data entry. From there, operators can assign tasks and schedules which the system automatically translates into individual commands and traceable assignments. It then allocates these, tracks their completion and provides a live overview of every activity. One feature that makes the platform
unique is that it is able to track entities and assign tasks and routes autonomously using easy-to-write rules, making tasks, such as checking access privileges when contractors enter a secure zone or triggering ventilation-on-demand in headings, quick and accurate. This in turn allows human operators more time to focus on overall operational efficiency. The Hivekit platform is also vendor
agnostic and comes with pre-built integrations, application programming interfaces (APIs) and protocols that allow for easy connectivity with a wide range of vehicle and machine endpoints, data platforms and third- party hardware. ●
