AIR MONITORING
Specialist conference and series of webinars to highlight how air monitoring technology enables compliance with hazardous air pollutant monitoring legislation
Picarro, who will be exhibiting its state-of-the-art air monitoring technology at the 2025 CEM Conference and Exhibition in Slovenia, has announced an expanded initiative to support commercial sterilisation professionals in meeting evolving regulatory requirements for ethylene oxide (EtO) emissions. With the deadline for compliance with US EPA’s updated National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations set for April 5, 2026, sterilisation facilities must assess and upgrade their current EtO abatement strategies and implement effective emissions management and reporting practices. Picarro’s initiative provides the necessary services, tools, and data insights to facilitate this transition, ensuring that facilities remain compliant while maintaining operational efficiency. This technology enables global organisations to comply with other international regulations, such as the EU’s Industrial Emissions Directive (IED).
This technology enables global organisations to comply with other international regulations including China’s Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law and South Korea’s Air Quality Conservation Act.
As part of this initiative, Picarro will host the second annual EtO Compliance Conference in 2025, building on the inaugural event’s success in 2024. The conference is a key forum for industry executives, technicians, abatement solution providers, and Picarro experts to exchange knowledge and best practices. Attendees will benefit from expert presentations, panel discussions on regulatory readiness and emissions monitoring technologies, and extensive networking opportunities. Dave Miller, Vice President of Environmental Solutions at Picarro, highlighted the importance of the event in addressing the sterilization industry’s need for actionable data, regulatory guidance, and advanced technology solutions, “Feedback from the 2024 EtO Conference has been overwhelmingly positive. This event uniquely addresses the sterilisation industry’s need for actionable data, guidance, cutting-edge technology, and peer collaboration. We’re committed to elevating the experience further in 2025.”
Picarro will introduce an array of educational resources to support industry professionals throughout this year. These include a continuing series of webinars, white papers, and case studies to clarify compliance requirements. One notable upcoming webinar, scheduled for March 2025, will feature experts from Picarro and LESNI, a leading EtO catalytic abatement systems provider. This session will showcase how Picarro’s monitoring solutions validated LESNI’s EtO destruction removal efficiency (DRE) of up to 99.9994 %, exceeding EPA standards.
Picarro’s suite of EtO emissions management services and solutions is designed to streamline compliance processes for sterilisation facilities. These solutions include workplace monitoring, fenceline monitoring, and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), providing ultra-precise, interference-free detection, analysis, and reporting of EtO emissions. In addition, Picarro offers expert regulatory guidance tailored to facility-specific operational needs, helping organisations navigate complex compliance requirements. The company also delivers comprehensive support services to mitigate risks, prevent costly downtime, and ensure consistent regulatory adherence.

A revolution for real-time particulate matter monitoring
Korean certification for portable VOC emissions analyser
Signal Group’s portable VOC analyser, the 3010 MiniFID has achieved NIER certification, demonstrating compliance with Article 9 of South Korea’s Environmental Testing and Inspection Act.
“The 3010 has been one of our most successful products for many years, and is proving particularly popular in Asia,” comments Signal’s Simon Corrigan. “The main features of the analyser have changed very little over time, because customers appreciate its rugged design and simple operation, which are two important features for portable devices.”
The instrument evaluation was arranged by Signal’s distributor in South Korea Y&J Eng, and the certificate was awarded by the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER). Explaining the importance of the certificate, Simon says: “This is commonly regarded as equivalent to Europe’s QAL1, which demonstrates that emissions analysers are fit for purpose.”
ENVEA has launched a new, cutting-edge Optical Aerosol Spectrometer designed for real-time particulate matter (PM) monitoring, delivering ultra-precise data in any environment.
The OPM250 is a next-generation analyser with a unique counting efficiency design for improved measurement accuracy and high-quality data. With a wide particle size range from 0.178µm to 29.4µm, the OPM250 is suitable for urban air quality monitoring, industrial emissions monitoring and scientific environmental research, as well as in-vehicle use due to vibration resistance.
Operating at 1.2 L/min and measuring 100% of particles in real-time without statistical estimations, the OPM250 has low power consumption and low running costs. Flexible communication protocols and a user-friendly interface mean that the OP250 is simple to operate, and a versatile and dependable tool for PM monitoring, with an internal air purification system for reduced maintenance.
Equipped with optical technology, the OPM250 ensures reliable performance in all environments including challenging outdoor and harsh locations and is QAL1 certified by TÜV for PM10 and PM2.5, ensuring it meets the stringent standards required for air quality monitoring.
Industries that will benefit from using the OPM250 include government agencies, environmental monitoring organisations, manufacturing, energy, transportation and scientific research bodies.
Azzedine Bendaoud, Product Manager, Ambient Sensors & Analysers at ENVEA, said: “This innovative optical aerosol spectrometer offers unmatched precision for ambient environment monitoring, setting new standards for real-time air quality monitoring. Air quality is a huge global concern, but with the OPM250, organisations and industries can take proactive measures and better understand the data to monitor and take relevant action.”
The OPM250 is available now.

With thousands of analysers supplied all over the world, the 3010 MiniFID has been proven in a wide variety of environments. However, Simon says: “Certification in Korea provides further confirmation of the instrument’s accuracy and reliability, particularly in climates where a heated analyser is essential for more applications than just post- combustion emissions.”
As a portable Flame Ionisation Detector (FID) analyser, the 3010 MiniFID is designed for the discontinuous measurement of gaseous and vaporous organic substances in stationary source emissions. Typical applications include the emissions testing of solvent-using and combustion processes, engine emissions, and VOC abatement systems, as well as checking and calibrating installed continuous analysers.
Summarising Simon says: “There are an enormous number of industries that need to measure Total Hydrocarbon emissions periodically, and many of these applications involve multiple locations at which VOC emissions have to be monitored,” he explains. “For compliance purposes, the analyser should ideally be a heated FID, and if it is rugged but small and lightweight that would be a significant advantage. The 3010 MiniFID is therefore the ideal solution, and NIER certification adds third-party verification that the analyser performs to specification.”
